The Drogheda Fleadh Cheoil has been dubbed the most successful such event in recent years after attracting over half-a-million visitors to the historic town.
It has also been revealed that over 25% of those who made their way to the week-long festival came from outside the State.
Drogheda will host the Fleadh Cheoil again next year from August 11 to 18.
The event, which came to the east coast for the first time, was rounded off with a huge fireworks display late on Sunday night.
The Director General of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Dr Labhrás Ó Murchú confirmed that around half a million people visited the town.
He said: “In the region of 500,000 people have attended the Fleadh over eight days, possibly the largest attendance in the history of the Fleadh Cheoil.”
